With grassy savannahs and huge swamps, intersected by the meandering Tarangire River and framed by a backdrop of ancient baobab trees, this large park boasts a diverse and impressive landscape. Renowned for its prolific birdlife, game viewing here can be exceptional too

Elephants are the main attraction of Tarangire and you can find huge herds of these majestic creatures gathering on the banks of the river, alongside a wide variety of antelope species and plenty of predators.

The vast size of the park offers an opportunity to really get away from the crowds and take your time with the animals.

Tarangire National Park is also rich in ungulates in the names of migratory wildebeest, eland, gazelle, impala, zebras, kudu, rhino, hartebeest buffalo and other smaller mammals that in many occasions tend to migrate outside the park during the extreme rainy season.

If you like cats, Tarangire isn’t short of them either, In fact, it is reported that the park is home for more than 700 lions, while there is also a good number of leopards and cheetahs.

As you can tell Tarangire has a very high concentration of wildlife so don’t get surprised to see more other animals in the park including various primates and even the tree-climbing pythons.
